Clyde-Savannah student earns Eagle
Nathaniel Metcalf

On April 15, Nathaniel Metcalf received his Eagle Scout Rank, the highest award in Boy Scouts. It was held at Montezuma Audubon in Savannah.

He did outdoor projects for the Savannah American Legion - planting and maintaining them, and picnic table construction, last spring, for his Eagle project.

More than 100 family and friends attended the Eagle ceremony, along with Troop 172 in attendance. Kevin Graham, adult volunteer did the Scout Oath, followed by the Scout Law Candle ceremony. Ethan and Ray Wright, an Eagle Scout of Troop 172 did this. Scout Master Keith Bloomer did Eagle charge.

Doug Luke, Scout Master of troop 172, conducted the Eagle presentation. During the Ceremony Nathaniel presented his parents Pat and John Metcalf with an Eagle Scout pin.

His mother did 'Scouting Reflections.' Remembering the many years of Scouting with him. Pictured are Pat and Nathaniel Metcalf; and in back, Raymond Wright and Doug Luke. A special Slide presentation was done for her twin sons, Nathaniel and Jonathan.

Jonathan received his Eagle Scout in November 2006. All enjoyed the special presentation 'My Wish' as it had shown many pictures of the memories of many events and trips that the Metcalf brothers participated in during their Boy Scout journey to Eagle Scout.

Nathaniel gave a speech thanking people who helped him along the trail of receiving his Eagle award. He presented the mentoring pin to Bruce Hadden, for the many years of volunteer service to the Boy Scouts.

Nathaniel received many awards, which were presented by Harold Hamblet. He was also presented the Bronze Palm in Boy Scouts. Gordon Pearsall presented Mason Award Benediction was given Gordon Pearsall in conclusion to the ceremony. Following the Ceremony everyone enjoyed refreshments. Nathaniel has also been on the Clyde-Savannah Cross country, swim, and track and tennis team throughout his high school years. He has received Scholar Athlete awards for Tennis and Cross Country.

He's usually on the school honor roll. He will attend Monroe Community College this fall, for Engineering Science in the Air Force ROTC program.
