Finally the weather is straightening up - not so many nights that you have to be dragging the hanging baskets and pots of annuals into the garage. Memorial Day is coming fast. It would be nice if it was a warm one this year.

On June 2: Community Breakfast at Sodus United Methodist church (Main St.) An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 7 until 10 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Price is $4.95 for an adult; $2.95 for children 12 and under, and a family price of $14.95. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal (optional raisins and brown sugar), toast, homemade muffins, coffee, milk and juice will be served buffet-style.

There are a few things happening for the weekend and the week. June 1 starts the Wayne County 5GrandSlam and Merchants Challenge Youth Derby.

June 2 is the Animal Faire at Alasa Farms, 6450 Shaker Road, Alton.

Ralph and Betty Everdyke are making their pilgrimage back to New York. They may be in transit as we speak.

flowers I find it's a difficult time of year. We want it to be nice and warm out and it's not yet. The kids are anxious for school to be over and it is close, but not yet - a time of anxious waiting, but it will come and, when it does, we will all have a great time. Enjoy the time. Pack up the kids and go to the park. Be the pep squad for your children's sport games..

Enjoy your weekend. Put on the sweater and enjoy a walk by the beach while there aren't all kind of people to step over. Feed the ducks. Get some movies and good books from the libraries before the holiday and spend some time reading together. It is easier to clean out the gardens when it is cooler out. Plan what plants you want to put into the ground and involve your kids in the choosing and planting. Whatever you decide to do, have fun and enjoy each other's company.

Have a safe Memorial Day and have a great week!
