Progress on G. Winston Dobbins Park

Andrea Evangelist, president of The Lyons Civic Club, Inc., is pleased to announce that funds have been raised through contributions to purchase a park bench in memory of G. Winston Dobbins.

'We found an old picture of the park that was taken in the 1930s and there is a bench that looks almost identical to the one we purchased,' said Evangelist. 'It will be a wonderful addition to the park and a gentle reminder of the man we miss seeing walk the streets of downtown Lyons,' she added.

The fund will also cover installation and maintenance of the bench. A bronze plaque affixed to the bench will read, presented to the Village of Lyons, NY in memory of G. Winston Dobbins (1935-2007) by his many friends.

The Park will be dedicated on June 14. (Watch for details.) The mural has been completed and flowers have been planted. The bench will be delivered in mid-July.
