Dancers from Georgia coming to Lyons

The Steps of Faith Dance Studio in Lyons, is hosting 15 dancers (and their chaperones) from the Steps of Faith Dance Company (part of the Steps of Faith Dance Studio) located in Cartersville, Georgia.

Their girls, along with the girls from the Steps of Faith Missions Team from Lyons, will be rehearsing, taking classes, and performing together from June 10 to 17.

'We are thrilled at the opportunity to come and minister alongside the Steps of Faith in Lyons. Our girls in Georgia, as well as those in New York, have worked very hard to prepare for this trip. Our prayer is that those witnessing our dancing will come to see Jesus and God in a new light, and that the songs and movements will minister to them where they are,' testifies Julie Reeves artistic director of the Steps of Faith Dance Studio in Georgia. for 10 years.

Four years ago, she founded the student dance ministry, the Steps of Faith Dance Company which has performed in numerous venues including Norway and Sweden in 2005. While there, the dancers were featured on international TV. Julie met Rachael Platt in Georgia in 1999, when she interviewed and hired her for teaching at the Steps. When Rachael co-founded the non-profit professional Christian dance company, The Pointes of Faith Dancers, Inc., now located in Lyons, she named the student section of the non-profit organization, The Steps of Faith Dance Studio, upon Julie's suggestion.

Both groups will take classes daily. Rachael Platt (BPS in dance performance) who is the artistic director of the Steps of Faith in Lyons will teach the intensive ballet classes and Julie Reeves, the artistic director of the Steps of Faith in Cartersville will teach the tap classes.

There is room for two more serious dancers to take intensive classes (daytime) with both groups during this week. Leave a message at 946.6180 if you are interested in taking these classes.

Evenings and their first Sunday afternoon will be spent rehearsing for their three praise performances. The girls will also learn the finale to be performed together at each performance.

Their performances will be held at the following places:

• Calvary Baptist Church on Peirson Avenue in Newark at 7 p.m. on June 10.
• New Hope Bible Church, 1215 Rt. 88, Phelps, at 7 p.m. on June 13.
• Lyons Presbyterian Church at the 10 a.m. service June 17.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free. The Steps of Faith Dance Studio is having a recital at 1 p.m. on June 9 at the Ohmann Theatre in Lyons. For information, 946.6180.
