Arcadia voters Only 131 votes separate the unofficial Arcadia Supervisor totals in Tuesday's elections, and there are 165 absentee ballots to be counted. Wayne County Board of Elections officials indicated that it would be November 19 before the results would be official and include absentees. Political newcomer Republican Dick Colacino appears to have unseated two-term Arcadia Supervisor Joe DeSanto, a Democrat. Colacino garnered 1162 votes and DeSanto, 1031 votes. In the race for Arcadia Town Council, incumbents Brenda Westcott (D) received 1088 votes, and Tom Chappell (D) 1052. Trailing are newcomers Gary McIlwain (R), with 1026 votes, and Paul Johnson, (R) with 978 votes. With 26 votes separating Chappell and McIlwain, an change could occur when the results are official and include absentees. Running unopposed were Bruce Nielsen for Council, Dan Barrett for Justice, Diane Allerton for Town Clerk, David Harder for Highway. Arcadia's political parties failed to come up with opposing candidates for those four positions. 2193 voters went to the polls this week, compared to 2820 in the last major town-wide election four years ago. When semi-retired Arcadia businessman Colacino takes office in January and heads for the Supervisor's meeting in Lyons, he'll find that the make-up of the county Board of Supervisors has changed. In Galen, longtime Supervisor Leo Jenkins (R) has lost his seat to newcomer Steve Groat (D), 550 to 439. In Savannah, longtime Republican Supervisor Don Colvin, who failed to obtain his party's nomination, ran on an independent line and lost to challenger Ken Lauderdale, 335 to 236. In the Town of Lyons, longtime Supervisor Joe Fabino easily overcame a challenge by Gerry Clingerman by a margin of 619 to 328. In the Town of Marion, 299 residents went to the polls to cast their votes, even thought there were no contested races. Copyright
