The 'Lunch Pail' downtown is now offering subs - plus their soup and sandwiches.

The Gingerbread Bazaar at the United Church of Marion will be held Nov. 10 from 9 to 3 in the Fellowship Hall, 3848 North Main St. There will be reuzelbollen, Christmas and Craft items, fresh produce, baked goods and more. A Lunch will be available from 11:30 to 1.

Congratulations to Nicole Clark who is one of the Birds Eye 2007 Players of the Year. A senior midfielder, Clark had 17 goals and 15 assists this season while leading the Black Knights to an 18-3 record.

Boy Scouts of America will be holding their Scouting for Food program to collect canned goods to help fill the shelves of many local food pantries this holiday season. The Scouts will be collecting shopping bags of food donations left on the door steps on Saturday, November 10. Some troops are unable to drop off empty plastic bags the week prior to collecting, so they are counting on the community to fill their own bags and remember to leave them out early on Saturday, November for collection. Thank you!

Nancy Nevelizer is recovering from a broken foot and ankle while staying at her daughter Helen's home on Witherden Road.

November 9 - Roast Beef Supper at Marion American Legion Home on Witherden Road.

November 8, 1939 - Several schools in the county are playing a new game, Touch Football. Last Friday, Marion boys journeyed to Palmyra and played a game which resulted in a 6 to 6 score.

November 8, 1913 - Pipes for the water works are laid on nearly every street in town. The cement reservoir on 'Prospect Hill' is nearly completed and there is a good prospect of the work of installing a water system before cold weather.

November 12 - Veterans Day school closing, banks closed, govt. offices closed.

The first product bottled by Henry J. Heinz, founder of the Heinz Company, in the basement of his home, was horseradish. In 1869, he opened his first factory in Sharpsburg, PA.
