Ring bells for the Salvation Army Small communities are joining the cities around the state to ring the bells for The Salvation Army. There are people in our local communities who are suffering from hunger or other crisis. The Red Kettle Campaign has begun and runs through December 24. People wishing to ring the bells to raise money to help their neighbors are invited to call 1.877.764.7259. They can also volunteer on-line by going to www.redkettles.org. The Center is open 24 hours a day, every day and takes calls from throughout the region. 'We especially need groups from families, schools, businesses, clubs, colleges. We need groups that will take a day and take responsibility for scheduling their friends and members for the day. Of course, individuals are also invited. We need everyone to help. It would make a world of difference in building the local fund that could make a major impact in the services that we could provide. Money raised in each community is used for local needs,' noted Major Payton. Payton oversees services in many communities, including Clifton Spring and Phelps, Clyde/Savannah, Lyons, Macedon, Marion, Newark, North Rose/Wolcott, Ontario, Palmyra, Sodus and Williamson.
