Newark 2nd graders having a food drive Stephanie Joyce's second-grade class at Lincoln School is spearheading a Sharing is Caring Food Drive for the Newark Food Closet. They announced it at the November 16 Farewell Friday assembly at which each child in the class shared one fact about the Food Closet and the drive and sang 'Sharing Is Caring.' Non-perishable foods that are needed included peanut butter, jam and jelly, cereal, pork & beans, baked beans, tuna and canned chicken, canned fruits, canned corn and peas, spaghetti sauce, canned pastas and powdered milk. The drive will end on December 20 and the collection center is in the front foyer of Lincoln School. Also participating in the drive are residents and staff at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Students in Joyce's class are pen pals with residents at the nursing home. The Newark Kiwanis Aktion Club members will also be helping by delivering food to the Food Closet. Copyright
