Fire Prevention Open House in Fairville Fairville Fire Department and friends enjoyed a warm Sunday afternoon for their Fire Prevention Month Open House. Fairville hosted this event with help from many area fire departments including Northside (Geneva), Phelps from Ontario County and West Brighton from Monroe County. From Wayne County, participating fire departments were Alton, Clyde, East Palmyra, Lyons, Marbletown, Marion, Newark, Savannah, Sodus, Sodus Center, Sodus Point, Wallington, and Williamson. Kids of all ages enjoyed the fire equipment representing more than 80 years of change in the fire service. Food and snacks were served, and Wally Crum - balloon artist - and Lynn Owens providing face painting for artistic entertainment. The information section of the event consisted of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department with the Child Safe I.D. program and the seatbelt check crew, Wayne County Public Health Office of Aging and Youth, The American Red Cross, Stop-DWI, MOMS club and the Wayne County safety trailer. Har-Rob Fire Apparatus was also on hand to show off the latest in tools and equipment relating to the fire service and also answer questions people had about the current equipment available to assist the firefighters in line of duty. The fire department and their explorer post worked hard to make this a memorable day. Copyright
