Congratulations to Bill and Barb DeWandel on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Friday, October 12.

I noticed that the replica of the Marion Bandstand, at the Marion Library Complex, is getting a nice coat of paint!

A rumor (pretty certain) around town is that the Shur-Fine Store on North Main Street is going to close. We will miss it.

'If the grass looks greener on the other side, you can bet the water bill is higher, too.'

A 'new' old acquisition has just been received from Bob and Jan DeRidder for the kitchen at 'Jennie's House.' It is a two-piece cabinet with a porcelain work shelf and compartments for flour, spices, sugar, etc. This was purchased in the 1930's from Montgomery Ward. (In the 1908 Sears catalog these cabinets were listed for $8.95 reduced from $9.65 and said to be compact, convenient, and capacious.) The cabinet is from the home of the late, 'Eddie' DeRidder. THANKS to the DeRidder family for remembering the Town of Marion and the Historic Association.

The Fire Department will be serving their 'All You Can Eat' Breakfast at the Fire Hall on Sunday, Oct. 14.

October 27 - The Marion Museum will be open from 10 a.m. until noon with a display on Sears, Roebuck and Company Homes.

Roast Beef Supper - Oct. 12 at Marion American Legion Home on Witherden Road.

Free Smoke Alarms: There are smoke alarms (batteries included) available in the Marion Town Hall for anyone who needs them. Please see Jody Bender. They have been purchased by donations from several people in loving memory of the Trude family.

Joyce Cantwell, accompanied by Mickey and Barb Cantwell and Bea Shultz spent the past weekend in Massena, NY. They were part of a celebration of Joyce's brother, Richard LaComb's 80th birthday party.

Emily Estochen provided the Ministry of Music by sharing her a cappella rendition of 'Be Than My Vision' at the Second Reformed Church on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007.

October 11, 1939: The second fire drill of the school took place last week and the building was cleared one minute, 25 seconds. On Monday the time was reduced to one minute and 10 seconds.
