Wayne Nursing Home to receive $1.4 million

Senator Michael Nozzolio announced Friday that the Wayne County Nursing Home will receive nearly $1.4 million in critical funds from the NYS Department of Health (DOH) to help resolve a budget shortfall.

Officials from the nursing home advised the Senator that operations and services at their facility would be significantly affected by mid-December without the funding. After an extended delay in receiving the funds, Nozzolio contacted the DOH and expedited the payments.

'The continued successful operation of the Wayne County nursing home is critical for the health of the residents living there,' said Nozzolio. 'The nursing home is facing a significant budget shortfall, and I am pleased that the Department of Health has agreed to expedite these necessary payments.

As part of the agreement, DOH will restructure the Medicaid rate for the nursing home, providing a payment of $622,966 that the nursing home will receive in the coming weeks.

Wayne County Nursing Home will also receive an additional $568,000 by mid-November through a rebased cost report that the nursing home had requested. In addition, the nursing home will receive $195,000 in public facility funds.

This funding will ensure that the Wayne County Nursing Home can continue to provide the highest quality services possible to residents.

'In these challenging times, it is all the more important that we make wise investments to ensure the viability of health care services for the elderly in our region,' Nozzolio continued. 'Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our elderly residents.'
