Newark Ambulance recruits Junior Members

The Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance, NAVA, is announcing the start of a new educational opportunity for young people ages 14 to 17.

By becoming a Junior Member of NAVA, students will learn what it means to work as an emergency medical technician, ambulance driver, and paramedic. Junior members will engage in learning activities, training drills, public service, and, when ready, will even ride on board the ambulances and assist the medics in patient care.

NAVA's Junior Membership program is run by Shawn Flanagan, NAVA Assistant Director of Operations and a Science Teacher at Newark Middle School. Any questions can be directed to Flanagan at 331.0660.

The meetings are Monday, October 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 3 at 10 a.m. The purpose of the meetings is to provide information on joining and answer questions and concerns from parents and students, alike.

Young people who want to join, may obtain an application from the NAVA Base at 301 Frey Street in Newark. Families with questions should consider attending one of two informational meetings. All meetings will be held at the NAVA Base across from the Hospital Complex.
