Articulators win trophies Toastmasters of Wayne County, the Wayne Articulators, announced the winners of two speaking contests. Cheryl LaTray, Newark, took first place trophy in the Humorous Contest at the Area 1 contest October 14 at the Webster Public Library. Her speech, 'The Mail Must Go Through!' described her first day as a mailman for the U.S. Post Office. Kathie Bement, of Newark won second place in impromptu speaking, the Table Topics Contest. The contests were organized by Mike Petro, Brighton, of Lilac City Toastmasters. Petro is the Governor of Area 1 which represents several clubs LaTray will be a contestant at the next level contest sponsored by the Central Division which includes all twenty seven clubs in the Greater Rochester area. Mike Batz, Henrietta, of Day Breakers Toastmasters, and Governor of Central Division, announced that the top two winners of each contest will compete at the District 65 conference in Ithaca in mid-November. Toastmasters is open to any adult 18 or over interested in improving confidence in communication or leadership skills.
