Sub teacher training in Newark Substitute teachers are needed throughout Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates Counties. As a substitute teacher, you choose the grade levels, school districts and the days you work. The Substitute Teacher Registry of Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is offering training to prospective substitutes who wish to work in public schools in the Wayne-Finger Lakes Region. Successful Substitute Training course will take place on October 29 & 30, from 9 to 3 in the Maple Building Conference Room at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Regional Support Center, 131 Drumlin Court, Newark. The fee is $25 and includes refreshments, lunch and all materials. This two-day, ten-hour training covers information on school expectations, classroom procedures, behavior management, lesson plans (how to follow them and what to do when there are none) and much more. Information on how and where to apply for substitute teaching positions and the current fingerprinting requirements are also covered. Qualifications for substitutes vary across the region from a high school diploma to college credit and/or a college degree. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate for 10 hours of training. Many past participants have found this training useful and have left the training feeling inspired and more prepared to begin substitute teaching. Attendance at this training does not guarantee a sub position, but many districts see this training as a first step in being hired.
