Health Screen Nov. 3 in Newark and Sodus ViaHealth of Wayne, in conjunction with the Newark Rotary Club, will have health screening for community members. The screening will be held November 3 at Newark Community Hospital and Myers Laboratory in Sodus. The Newark health screen will take place from 6 to 10 a.m. in the Hospital Cafeteria, Driving Park Avenue, Newark. The Myers health screen will take place from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Myers Outpatient Laboratory in the Medical Office Building, 6692 Middle Rd, Suite 1100, Sodus. This is an opportunity for individuals to obtain a preliminary review of their general health status through a variety of blood tests including liver, kidney, metabolic, lipid, and hematological functions. A range of 26 different blood tests will be performed to help evaluate health. Test results will be forwarded to the individual and his/her physician. The cost for the screening is just $20. There is an additional $10 charge for men who choose to have the test to screen for prostate cancer, (PSA). Participants must fast from all food and drink, except water, for 10 hours prior to their blood draw. Refreshments will be provided. Diabetics should follow doctor's orders for blood draws.
