College online course for veterinary assistant

Finger Lakes Community College Division of Professional Studies and Continuing Education offers a new, non-credit, online Veterinary Assistant Certificate Program.

Participants in this 485-hour online program will learn the basics of animal anatomy, physiology, and biology as they relate to the care and treatment of common pets, livestock, and lab animals.

Students gain the essential skills needed to assist veterinary nurses in all aspects of basic treatment, surgery, and radiology, while also becoming proficient in the administrative practices and procedures involved in running a veterinary office.

Students can start the program at any time and all coursework can be completed from work or home at convenient times.
