Historians will collect stories in November

During November, Town Historians and Historical Societies in Wayne County will be collecting oral histories from veterans in Wayne County.

A copy of the interview will be kept with the towns records and the original will be sent to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. to become part of their Veterans History Project. These stories will then be available to scholars, students and anyone else visiting the Library.

The mission of the Veterans History Project is to collect and archive the personal recollections of U.S. wartime veterans to honor their service and share their stories with current and future generations. By taking part in the Veterans History Project, you are contributing to the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, one of the worlds most respected research and cultural institutions. When you participate, you are making history.

Please contact your historian or town historical society or your local veterans organization to see if they are participating in this very worthwhile project. For more information on the Veterans History Project, check
