Mike Jankowski, Wayne County Clerk, has been named United Way of Wayne County's 2008 Campaign Chairperson. Jankowski will spearhead fundraising efforts beginning this fall for the community's annual United Way Campaign, which raises money for agencies that provide services to individuals and families in Wayne County. 'We are excited to have such a community-minded leader as Mike taking on the important role of Campaign Chair,' said Mike Calarco, Board President for United Way. 'We feel fortunate that he has accepted this challenge.' Jankowsi says being named as Campaign Chair is a great opportunity for him to give back to the county he works for. Jankowski attended St. John Fisher College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Prior to being elected Wayne County Clerk in 2005, Mike was the Commissioner for the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority. He's a member of the New York State County Clerks Association, Congressman Jim Walsh's Military Academy Advisory Board, a past member of the Wayne County Humane Society Board of Directors, and a past member of the Wayne County Victims Resource Center Board of Directors. This year's United Way of Wayne County Campaign raised over $921,455. Jankowski said he is confident that, through the efforts of so many generous businesses and dedicated volunteers, the coming year will be just as successful. The United Way of Wayne County/Red Cross Fall Campaign will kickoff in September and run through the early part of December. Companies that have not run an employee campaign in the workplace are asked to consider running one this year.
