Retirement party for John Watkins

Fairville and East Palmyra Presbyterian Churches are inviting the community to attend a celebration in honor of the retirement of the Rev. John Watkins.

This special event will be taking place on September 18, at 7 p.m. at the Fairville Fire dining hall. The Rev. and Mrs. Watkins will be leaving the Newark-Palmyra area to retire in Virginia.

Watkins has most recently been serving as pastor of the Fairville and East Palmyra Presbyterian Churches. He has also served as associate pastor at Park Presbyterian in Newark.

For many years, he was chaplain at the Newark Hospital and is a familiar face at DeMay Living Center and area nursing homes.

Martha Watkins is well known for her countless hours of volunteer work at Newark Hospital.

The Rev. and Mrs. Watkins will be greatly missed by this community. Gifts are not expected but you may bring a donation to the Fairville Presbyterian Food Pantry (if you wish).

A memory book is also being prepared so you may bring a special message to be included in it.
