 Lyons elections taking shape

As of Monday evening, both the Lyons Democrats and Republicans have selected candidates for the fall election.

The Town of Lyons needs to fill slots for four candidates. Republicans running are: Incumbent Supervisor Jim Fabino (2-year term); incumbent Town Justice Nick Forgione (4-yr.); incumbent Councilman Jim Brady (4-yr.); and newcomer Brian Manktelow for councilman.

Gerry Clingerman The Dems facing them are Gerry Clingerman, a former village trustee, who will run for supervisor; and former school board member John Paliotti, who seeks a council seat.

The Village of Lyons has three seats up for grabs. The GOP will run incumbent Trustee Dennis Alvaro; newcomer Terry VanStean for Trustee; and incumbent Justice Nick Forgione.

John Cinelli Democrats going up against them are former Republican mayor John Cinelli for Trustee, and former teacher Raphaela Mamuscia.

The Democrats have appointed a committee to fill vacancies before the final ballot is due.

This November's elections could have a powerful impact on county government as, of the 15 town supervisors who comprise the County Board, 14 are up for a vote. The only Town Supervisor who does not have to campaign is Robert Plant (Walworth).

Supervisor seats up for election in other towns (besides Lyons) include Arcadia, Butler, Galen, Huron, Macedon, Marion, Ontario, Palmyra, Rose, Savannah, Sodus, Williamson and Wolcott.
