Apple Shed pie weekend

Visit The Apple Shed September 22 and 23 for Pie Weekend. Festivities will start on Saturday with a Fruit Pie Baking Contest and finish on Sunday with a Pie Eating Contest.

There's no age limit or entry fee to participate in the Pie Baking Contest. All pies must be made with fruit filling and a homemade crust. No cream, meringue or custard pies are permitted. There will be no more than one entry per person and professional bakers are not allowed to enter. The recipe is required to be with the entry. Please bake pie in an 8' or 9' disposable pan. Do not write your name on the pan. A participant number will be assigned at registration.

Registration for the Pie Baking Contest is from 2-2:45 on Saturday. Judging will take place at 3 p.m. Judges will determine winners based on pie taste, appearance and consistency. Cash will be awarded to 1st-5th place finishers.

The Pie Eating Contest is for all ages and will be divided into two categories: Ages 12 & up or 11 & under. The first person to eat the most pie in the time limit wins, or a participant will be declared the winner if they are the first person to swallow the entire pie prior to the time limit. The catch? The older division gets to use forks and hands. The younger kids must have hands behind their backs.

Registration for the Pie Eating Contest is from 2 to 2:45 on Sunday. The contest will start at 3 p.m. for ages 12 & up. Ages 11 & under will begin at 3:30.
