Senator honored for helping Catholic Family Services

Catholic Family Services of Newark honored Senator Michael Nozzolio for his years of commitment and dedication to the not-for-profit organization. Nozzolio was recognized at a ceremony at the Hannick Hall campus on East Union Street in Newark last week.

Carolyn Portanova, President and CEO of the Catholic Family Center, said, 'Senator Nozzolio has been invaluable to the Catholic Family Center in our efforts to help women in recovery achieve independence with dignity and care for their families. That is why the new Hannick Hall Campus in Newark is such an important milestone for our Restart Residential Programs. The one-site model will certainly enhance effective treatment.'

Nozzolio has been an ardent supporter of Catholic Family Services in the region. Over the past two years, he has secured $500,000 in state funding to aid the not- for-profit organization in their efforts to provide help to women in recovery.

Hannick Hall serves approximately 50 women per year from across the State and helps pregnant women and women currently raising children.

In 2006, Hannick Hall celebrated the births of six drug-free babies and 12 family reunifications, saving the community thousands of dollars in potential neo-natal intensive care and foster care.
