Treisback, Stearns present 'Reverie' The handbell ringers of Finger Lakes Bronze performed Reverie - One Woman's Story on Saturday night at the Park Presbyterian Church, Newark. The performance began with Judith Treisback, Music Director, leading into the reverie with a series of light airy bell tones. She was then joined by the narrator, Eleanor Stearns, who spoke of a young woman born to a loving, nurturing family. The woman falls in love and recreates a life for her family, that was mirror image to her own childhood. The light melodies of bells and chimes carry the mood for the whimsical tale of life, love, and family sharing joys and pains and celebrating triumphs. Each melody was a sounding free spirit made possible by the precise and eloquent movements of each bell ringer. Every sound created rang with steady resonance. The Reverie score completes an emotionally moving experience of the events in our circle of life. Finger Lakes Bronze: (Row 1) Arthur Treisback, Elizabeth Sessions, Judith Treisback, Marjorie Fehrenholz, Tessa Hanagan, Janet Stappenbeck, (Row 2) Mary Anne Cooper, Eleanor Stearns Finger Lakes Bronze bell ringers are made complete by a pianist, narrator and a family of bells made by Schulmerich, Petit & Fritsen, and Malmark chimes. Handbell ringing is native to England and had been brought to America in 1902. Its popularity has been growing steadily during the last 30 years, mostly by churches enhancing their service. Small community groups have since organized and are now performing across the country. The bells range in size, based on their octaves. Handbells also range in weight from four ounces to 22 lbs. The Park Presbyterian 'Chancel Bells' handbell choir will be ringing during the Spring Concert Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m. at the Park Presbyterian Church, on Maple Court. Other choirs, trios, organists and pianists will take part in the concert. Community is invited, and it is free admission. Copyright
