NYS budget delivers $1 million
for Newark Hospital

Senator Michael Nozzolio announced that he was successful in securing $1 million of funding in the 2008-2009 NYS budget for operational costs at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

'This is a major victory for Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and the residents of Wayne County who rely on the critical health care services provided there,' said Nozzolio. 'The services provided by Newark-Wayne Community Hospital are vital for the health care needs of the community and I was proud to fight to ensure this funding was included in the final State budget.'

Annette Leahy, President of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, said, 'This is great news for the patients, staff and community served by Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Because of the Senators strong concern and commitment to the life saving work we perform each and every day, we can ensure a brighter future for the hospital and the Newark-Wayne community.'

Nozzolio added, 'It is important that New York State continue to make wise investments to strengthen area hospitals and ensure the viability of health care services in Wayne County.'
