Reservations needed ASAP for dinner at Quality Inn Business and community leaders are invited to attend Forging a Blueprint for Economic Development, featuring Daniel C. Gundersen, Upstate Chair of Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC), as the keynote speaker. The event is Wednesday, April 23 at the Quality Inn in Newark (125 N. Main Street). The Business Showcase and Social Hour will be from 5 to 6 and dinner is at 6 p.m. The forum is being sponsored by the Wayne County Business Council, the Wayne County Industrial Development Agency and the Newark Chamber of Commerce. Gundersen serves as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Economic Development, as well as, Co-Chairman of Empire State Development overseeing Upstate Headquarters in Buffalo. As Upstate Chairman, he directs economic development throughout Upstate's seven unique regions and is responsible for implementing economic development strategies to revitalize the upstate economy. As commissioner, he oversees the NY Department of Economic Development, which makes proactive investments and creates employment in targeted growth sectors by supplying the capital that New York communities and businesses need to grow. Previously, Gundersen worked with the executive state governments in Pennsylvania and Maryland as a key member of their Economic Development teams. Wayne County initiated and completed a Strategic Plan for Economic Development with the goal of providing a comprehensive blueprint for community driven development and growth. Essential elements of the plan will be introduced at the forum and community members will have the opportunity to learn how they can help drive economic growth for Wayne County and the region.
