Mambo Kings in concert at FLCC Wednesday

Finger Lakes Community College presents An Evening with the Mambo Kings, April 23 at 7 p.m. in Stage 13 on the second floor of the Canandaigua Campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive.

The Mambo Kings, from Rochester, is known for its Afro-Cuban jazz sounds. This group recently performed with the Vancouver Symphony, and they have upcoming performances scheduled with the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Detroit Symphony this spring and summer.

They are slated to perform with the Rochester Philharmonic on July 19 at the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC), on the FLCC Canandaigua campus.

The Mambo Kings is comprised of saxophonist John Viavattine, percussionist Wilfredo Colon, pianist Richard DeLaney, conguero David Antonetti, and bassist Hector Diaz.

El Ka Bong, a student group known for their Latin rhythms, will open the show. The concert is free and open to the public. Latin and Cuban refreshments will be served.
