Buy tickets today for Cabaret Night 'Cabaret Night' is Saturday, May 3 at 6:30 at Newark High School. This event is held each year in the gymnasium that's transformed to create a nightclub-like atmosphere with decorations, tables with tablecloths and candlelight. A stage is set up on which members of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by NHS vocal music teacher Jean Bendix and members of the Jazz Ensemble, directed by NHS instrumental teacher David Schwind, perform two musical sets each during the event that features vocal and instrumental soloists. Student musicians act as waiters and waitresses, serving gourmet desserts like New York-style cheesecake, carrot cake, homemade fruit pies, chocolate cake and beverages. Proceeds from the evening support music scholarships given at graduation to two students who plan to pursue careers in music. Please purchase reserve seating in advance at either the Newark Village Pharmacy, Flowers Unlimited, or Community Bank. The price of admission, that includes beverages and dessert is $10, for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens with a Gold Card. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
