Lyons grad is Teacher of the Year in Commack

Chad M. Snyder, a 1996 Lyons graduate, has recently been named Commack Union Free School District's Teacher of the Year for 2008, Commack, Long Island.

Snyder is the youngest teacher to receive this honor in Commack's 20 years of participation in the National Teach of the Year program. Snyder teaches Grade 5 gifted and talented, and is the district's K-5 Math, Science and Technology Lead Teacher. He is the son of Scott and Terry Hughes of Lyons and resides in Centereach, Long Island with his wife, Theresa and two sons, Noah and Ambrose.

Commack UFSD, Commack, Long Island is one of New York State's highest ranked school districts with more than 630 teachers, 7800 students, boasting 97.5 percent of its students receiving Regents Diplomas in 2007.
