The Terrace at Newark breaks ground Photo by Stephanie Knarr shows Arcadia Supervisor Dick Colacino, Newark Mayor Peter Blandino, Joe Vitale and Paul Vitale, from Seneca Lake Terrace. Ground was broken July 31 at The Terrace at Newark Complex on Route 88 South. Seneca Lake Terrace's new assisted living complex will offer affordable living and allow residents to 'age in place.' The 58-bed assisted living community will provide a licensed Assisted Living Program (ALP). The ALP was designed by NYS Department of Health specifically to allow for residents to age in place and allows for more services than would typically be provided in an adult-care setting. Through this exclusive certification, The Terrace at Newark will join a select few residences across New York State in providing age-in-place programs that not only allow residents to remain in the place they have come to call home but also permit them to utilize Medicaid for assisted living expenses. This program has proven to be a successful, cost effective alternative to nursing home care for seniors that do not need 24-hour skilled nursing care, who are living on fixed incomes and do not want to move away from family and friends. 'We are so thrilled to see this project finally up and off of the ground,' said Chris Vitale, Developer of Seneca Lake Terrace. 'All too often seniors living on fixed incomes are forced to move far from their families and friends to obtain the care they need. Now local seniors, who are at a point in their life where it is too difficult or not safe to live alone, will have the Terrace at Newark as a viable, affordable, long term care option.' The Terrace at Newark will be a modern, one-story building designed to mimic a small 'town square' atmosphere. With large, well lit common areas and high ceilings, the residence will afford the ultimate experience of life in a quaint village setting. The residence will be beautifully decorated and offer many amenities that include large lounge areas, sunrooms, dining rooms, outdoor patios and landscaped grounds.
