Water station up and running at Fairville hall

The Town of Arcadia recently partnered with Fairville Fire Department, and Wayne County Water Authority, to establish a water station for Arcadia residents.

Although many miles of rural water lines have been installed recently, 'There are still too many residents that have bad water or poor supply', according to Arcadia Supervisor Dick Colacino.

Colacino, Councilmen Brenda Westcott and Bruce Nielsen, and members of Fairville Fire Department met Monday at the fire hall, to turn the valve for a new service to residents.

'Simple' is the way Supervisor Colacino wanted it, no red tape, no complicated forms to fill out, no additional layer of government created to address a need by Arcadia residents.

Initially, the water is free. Residents will need to get a permit from the Town Office, and a billing method is being worked on, but Councilman Nielsen stressed that the town will supply the water at cost, not wanting to make a penny on the plan.

In addition, contractors who haul water for Arcadia residents will be allowed to obtain water from the station, and a larger fill hose will be installed for that purpose.

Haulers are performing a service for Arcadia residents and will be treated the same as the guy who just wants a couple of jugs of water a day.
