Blood drives planned around Wayne

Several American Red Cross blood drives, open to the public, are planned this month.

Donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old (16 with a NYS parental permission slip) and must weigh a minimum of 110 lbs. Donors can donate blood every 56 days, and public participation is encouraged. If you are unsure of your eligibility, call 1.800.GIVE.LIFE or visit

Every donation can help save as many as three individual patients.

Walk-ins are welcome, appointments are recommended.

  • Aug. 6 - Newark DDSO, 703 Maple Ave., 11 to 4
  • Aug. 9 - Church of Epiphany, 105 W. Main St., Sodus, 9 to 2
  • Aug. 12 - Exxon Mobil, 729 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd., Macedon, 9 to 2
  • Aug. 12 - Red Creek Fire Department, 7026 Main St., Red Creek, 2 to 7
  • Aug. 14 - Ontario Town Hall, 1850 Ridge Rd., Ontario; 2 to 7
  • Aug. 18 - Wolcott Baptist Church, 2 New Hartford St.; 2 to 7
  • Aug. 19 - American Legion, 4141 Witherden Rd.; 2 to 7
  • Aug. 22 - Ginna Training Center, 1503 Lake Rd., Ontario; 8 to 2
  • Aug. 25 - Clyde Fire Dept., 15 Ford St.; 2 to 7
  • Aug. 26 - St. Anne's Church, 136 Church St., Palmyra; 1 to 6
  • Aug. 27 - Macedon Public Library, 32 Main St.; 1 to 6
  • Aug. 27 - Lyons Community Center, Manhattan St.; 2 to 7

The American Red Cross also needs blood drive sponsors. Business, school, and community groups are urged to participate.
