Newark Police cars have a new B&W look
Newark Police Department law enforcement officers work 24/7, with a force of 23 full-time employees. The Department vehicles recently had a make-over, with black & white replacing the bright blue & white. In between two of the cars are Police Sgt. Mark Thoms, Investigator Gary VerStraete, and Officer Aaron Dean. Beginning with a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria delivered recently, a new look, the 'Black & White' patrol car has returned. Unlike the days of Broderick Crawford, standing beside his 1955 Buick Century police cruiser, using a two-way radio, these patrol cars are equipped with the latest computer technology and communications. 10-4 on that! The new look was designed by Officer Dean. The fleet of NPD marked patrol vehicles will eventually be repainted and lettered. The funding was made available by drug asset forfeiture money. No taxpayer dollars were involved in the police car re-design and make-over. Copyright
