Navy squadron adopted

WILLIAMSON - With the help of family members and early childhood students, the morning preschool children at the Wayne Technical and Career Center prepared Christmas stockings Thursday, Dec. 11 for Jimmy Westerberg's Navy squadron. Each of the 15 children in the pre-school class and their families adopted one of the squadron members. The stockings were then presented to Westerberg's parents, Amy and Ira Jones, who will send them to the squadron. In the past month, children at the Wayne Technical ad Career Center have learned about Jimmy Westerberg, who graduated from the Wayne Technical and Career Centers PreSchool in 1990. Approximately 5,500 men and women serve on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which weighs 97,000 tons and covers 4.5 acres. The purpose of adopting Jimmy's squadron was to teach the children generosity and kindness. For more information about pre-school openings, call 589-2621. Special thanks go to the WTCC student council as well as to the families of the children adopting a Valion.
