Wayne County residents
SODUS: A total of $49,379 in grants from the Wayne County Community Endowment Advisory Committee, a local affiliate of Rochester Area Community Foundation, was presented Thursday, Dec. 18 to 11 non-profit agencies operating for the benefit of Wayne County residents.
Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation received $5,000 to support housing grants that repair threats to health by addressing housing-based hazards, such as lead based paint, structural and accessibility conditions, heating, electrical and plumbing. Allynn Smith (585) 461-4263.
Cancer Screening Partnership received $5,000 to support a program that offers pelvic ultrasounds and biopsies to aid in the diagnosis of gynecological abnormalities. Contact is Susan Short, 332-2255. Catholic Charities of Wayne County was given $5,000 to support the costs of operating its clothing center in Wolcott and recent expansion costs. Contact is Tim Sullivan, 331-4867.
Home Meal Service was given $5,000 to support the costs of running the food nutrition site in Sodus and mileage reimbursements for Meals on Wheels. Contact is Kathleen Denniston, 946-5622.
Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County was given $5,000 to support an AmeriCorps member, who will provide one-on-one tutoring and learning-method training. Contact is Christopher Edgar, 946-5333.
Pultneyville Historical Society was given $2,100 to support the replacement/refabrication of windows and rebuilding of window jams in Gates

Scarlet Thread Ministries received $5,000 to support its Youth Impact Initiative, which works to establish positive after-school programming in every school district in Wayne county. Jay Roscup, 483- 0240.

Wayne County Rural Health Network received $5,000 to support a program that will provide sliding-scale subsidies to families to help pay for newly mandated dental exams for school-age children. Contact is Emilie Sisson, 483-3266.
