HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.: Thanks to snowmobiling, powdery winter storms and the deep chill are often something to look forward to. Snowmobile enthusiasts welcome the low temperatures and high snowfalls. Here are some tips from Allstate Financial Groups power sports insurance brochure to help you have a worry-free snowmobiling season.

Plan for Success

• Create a kit of essentials (drivers license, money, medications, insurance forms, cell phone, water, high- energy food) to carry along.
• Create a plan using detailed maps.
• Before heading out, make sure someone else knows the plans.

Chill out on ice

• Snowmobiles have far less traction for starting, turning and stopping on ice than on snow, so always travel at low speeds.
• Be absolutely certain that any ice is safely frozen, before attempting to travel on it.

Remember the Basics

• Always wear a helmet and insist any passengers do the same.
• Never drink and sled.
