Food Sense offers discount groceries

NEWARK — Food Sense offers quality discounted food to residents of Newark and elsewhere. Everyone is eligible — there are no residential or income requirements.

The cost per unit, which includes 12 items of fruits,vegetables, meat and other grocery staples, is $15.50.

Order dates for December are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 5 at the Catholic Charities office, at 1141 E. Union St. Cash, money orders, food stamps and vouchers are accepted. Food may be picked up 3 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office.

The Newark Rotary Club will deliver the food to people who are shut-in or are unable to pick up their food due to age, disability or an ongoing transportation issue.
