Newark-Wayne scores above average

According to the latest scores in the government sponsored “Hospital Compare” Web site, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is among the top hospitals in the Finger Lakes Region in ratings for treatment of heart attack, pneumonia, heart failure and surgical care. Newark-Wayne’s ratings are higher than both the national and state averages in all cases except one indicator in regard to flu vaccines.

“Hospitals that can achieve and maintain higher scores are proving that the latest and best care processes are being used,” said Arun Nagpaul, M.D., the hospital’s medical director.

“At Newark-Wayne we are employing best practices 100 percent of the time for six measures being tracked and 95 percent of the time for an additional five measures. When you compare that with hospitals across the country, this clearly differentiates Newark from the “Average” and demonstrates our commitment to providing the best medical and surgical care to our patients.”
