Doug and Jeanette Wessie are home after spending a long weekend in Eldred, with daughter Judy and Franz Kopf, and their children, Doug and Brendan. They celebrated a few family birthdays during the visit.

I came across this 'cute' recipe, which I plan to try soon when our family gets together.

Confetti Spaghetti

  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) spaghetti
  • 1.5 lb. ground beef
  • 1 med. green pepper, chopped
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbs. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef, green pepper and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar, salt, chili powder, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne. Drain spaghetti; add to the beef mixture. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with cheese. Bake 5 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted. Yield: 12 servings.

Did you know ... each cherry tree produces enough fruit for about 28 cherry pies.
