Lady Reds win 75-33 in first round

The Newark Lady Reds basketball team began defending last year's Sectional title with a first-round Class A victory 75-33 over Brighton on Feb. 16.

Alyssa Fenyn scored a game-high 29 points, Marissa Bunce added 11 points, and JV player Maggie VanKouwenberg came off the bench and scored seven points. Heather Virts and Kristin MacBride each scored six points. Newark held a 44-19 halftime lead.

The Lady Reds (18-3) play this Thursday against the Victor Blue Devils at home.
