Mural Mania coming to Clyde Under the umbrella of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, several dedicated and enthusiastic citizens of Clyde have been exploring the possibility of preserving and showcasing local history through the media of murals. Mural Mania's dream of showcasing 50 miles of murals in towns along the Erie Canal began in 1990. The dream came alive when Palmyra, Newark, Lyons, Savannah, Port Byron, Weedsport, Jordan and Camillus agreed to take part in depicting their heritage through murals. The old Citizen Bank building in Clyde located at 81 Glasgow Street in downtown Clyde has been purchased by Wayne and Sharon Rice, who have commissioned an artist to paint a large mural that will be displayed in the second floor windows. This mural will illustrate life in the banking business as it was in the 1930s. Wayne and Sharon are the first who have invested in Mural Mania. Their mural is the first to be painted in Clyde, and should be ready in May.
