Auction Saturday at St. Michael School

The St. Michael School Auction is March 1, starting promptly at 5:30 p.m. in Father McDonnell Hall.

The auction is to be held at St. Michael School, 320 South Main Street, Newark. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.

The auction began 15 years ago with an idea to raise money for the school while bringing families and friends in the school and community together. It has proven to be one of our biggest fundraisers, bringing our parish and school community together in a fun filled active evening.

The gym will be lined with tables full of silent auction items. The stage is set with live auction items. Bidding begins on donated items and the tables are closed one by one every ten minutes. The tables are generally filled with household items, tools, pool supplies, etc.

The evening also incorporates raffles, beautiful school art club made jewelry. One of the highlights of the evening is the classroom baskets. Each classroom takes up a collection, develops a theme and then puts together a basket that is auctioned off during the evening.

Examples of this years themes are a Spa basket, a Webkinz basket, a Baseball basket, Cooking and Baking basket a Mother's Day basket, a Picnic basket, a Father's Day basket and Easter basket, a Thai Cooking basket and a Family Fun basket. The evening is an adult event hosted by families and parent from the school and church community.

Appetizers and desserts will be served with a cash bar for beer and wine. School families, parishioners and businesses in Wayne, Ontario and Monroe Counties have graciously donated many items.
