Marion Girl Scouts will be holding a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, March 2, at the Marion Legion Home on Witherden Road, Marion, 8 to noon - Pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and home fries.

Ed & Jen (Devlin) Almekinder and daughter Sierra, along with Paul & Sue Devlin, enjoyed vacationing in Florida. They spent seven magical days visiting Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom at Disney World. While at Disney, they connected with Sue's brother & family, Brian, Jill, Craig & Derek Adriaansen. They spent time together enjoying a group photo, shows, rides, and the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. They caught up with Jen's former classmate, Peter Stevens, who works at Magic Kingdom. Also while in Florida, they spent one enchanted evening at the Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction, compliments of daughter/granddaughter, Sierra. They had a wonderful time and look forward to returning in the future.

February 11, 1911- Jacob Leroy, who has a blacksmith shop in the Louis Smith building, was struck in the jaw by a horse he was shoeing on Monday. The shoe, worn by the animal, cutting a gash in his face to the bone.

The Phone-a-Thon is taking place March 11-13 and March 19. Seniors will be working out of the High School Offices, making phone calls to Community members between 6-8:30 each evening. This is a national program that provides financial support in the form of scholarships to seniors. Seniors that help with the phone-a-thin have to fill out an application and hand it in on time. It is to be awarded after the first year of college the following school year. Financial donations are all tax deductible and 100% of all money raised is used for Marion graduates. The money is to further their education either in a trade school, two- or four-year college.

I'd like to thank Erma Clark for her contribution of vintage cook books for the kitchen of 'Jennie's House.'

'Nostalgia is like a grammar lesson: You find the present tense and the past perfect.'

February 29 - there's a Roast Beef Supper at the Legion Home.

Marion Class of 2008 thanks everyone for support at the basketball games, 50/50 raffles, and for purchasing poinsettias at Christmas. The next big fund-raiser is the Chicken BBQ, on April 27, in front of the Elementary School on Main Street. Tickets will go on sale early April. BASH also gets donations from DWI, PTA and Community Business and Parent donations. BASH provides a safe drug free and alcohol free graduation party right after the graduation ceremony at the Perinton Community Center. We are always looking for more volunteers - contact Chari DeYoung through the High School Office.
