Happenings We had a lovely Christmas with our family. I received four new cookbooks. Matt Hussey played his guitar and sang My Chains Are Gone - special music - at the Second Reformed Church, on December 30. Gwen Bushart spent Christmas with her daughter in Oneida. December 22 Tea Party Sharing in afternoon tea just before Christmas, at 3361 Cambier Road, were Meredith and Julia Kellogg, Cathy Peelen, Linda Kellogg, Esther Hutt, Ramona Yusko, Judy Rachow, Nicole Feinour, Angela Szymanski, Lois Admiraal, and Kristen Admiraal. The menu included assorted teas, crumpets, scones, cucumber and ribbon sandwiches. Few things are more disillusioning than learning that Grandma's old family recipe came from Betty Crocker. The Marion Historic Assn. has received a grant of $200 for storage shelves at the museum. This comes from the Augustus and Jennie Hoffman Foundation. Heard an old wives' tale that says putting cayenne pepper in your socks will keep your feet toasty warm during cold weather. John and Eileen Ballesty spent New Year's Eve and Day with their son Dan, wife Joyce and family, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Early Marion: Jan. 6, 1944: The Market Basket has iceberg lettuce, two heads for 23 cents, and a box of Wheaties for 11 cents. A&P has 8 O'Clock Coffee for 59 cents for a three-lb. bag.
