'Remember Neisner's display in Newark

A special display honoring the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Newark Plaza is currently in place at the Newark-Arcadia Museum.

The display runs through April 1.

In recent weeks, the former Neisner's-Big N-Ames department store has been torn down.

Included in the display are a number of items pertaining to these stores: architect's drawings, wonderful construction photographs taken in 1956 taken by two photographers, several shopping bags, a photo taken during grand opening in 1957, full-page newspaper advertisement announcing the opening of Neisner's Big N in 1964, and more.

You may see this display, and much more, on Saturdays, from 1 to 3, at 120 High St., Newark. Admission is free, with donations accepted.

For information on the museum, or becoming a member of the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society, call 331.6409, or email
