Pastor Cynthia
will volunteer in Ethiopia

On February 1, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel, will leave for Ethiopia on a 18-day mission trip. She will be traveling with 11 others to Dembi Dollo in southwestern Ethiopia to help to construct a new kitchen for the Gidada Bible School. They will be using the clay-and-block technique.

The group will help tutor locals in English and basic computer skills. The mission trip is being organized through and sponsored by the Susquehanna and Eastminister Presbyteries.

Huling Hummel served the Lyons Presbyterian Church for 11 years, before she moved to Waverly in August to become the 19th pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Waverly, in Tioga County.

People wishing to donate to the Ethiopian kitchen project are invited to 'buy a block' at the cost of $5/block. Checks can be sent to the Waverly Presbyterian Church, 459 Park Ave. Waverly, NY 14892.

Please earmark the check: Ethiopian Kitchen Project. For more information, call Pastor Cynthia at 607.565.4034.
