January 18, 1894: Mr. H. Topping of Marion says that a dry fall causes light foliage and to have a large apple crop, the production of leaves needs to be small.

I've heard that some new restaurants may be coming to Newark. I vote for Red Lobster!

January 21 - Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. Schools are closed.

January 25 - No school for 7-12 grade students; January 28 - No school for K-12. It is Superintendent's Day

Thank You - Thanks to all that donated to the St. Gregory's Christmas basket program this year. We fed 72 people and supplied gifts for 38 children and seniors.

Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County is accepting applications for two homes. One to be built in Sodus this summer and one remodeled 10-year-old home in Newark.

Applicants must live or work in Wayne Co. currently live in inadequate housing, have an annual income of at least $24,000 and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Interested parties should call 315-986-9915 (leave a message) or write Habitat for Humanity, 1160 Macedon Center Road, Macedon 14502. Completed applications must be received by Jan. 30.
