Michael A. RobinsonAssault Wednesday night lands man in hospital

Newark Police were called to 621 Mason Street at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, to investigate a disturbance involving a fight with baseball bats and knives. The men had been playing cards and drinking beer, an argument started over about $10 worth of marijuana, police said.

Michael A. Robinson, 33, of Fort Pierce, Florida hit Albert J. Cavnuto Jr. of Wolcott over the head with a baseball bat.

Cavnuto was taken to a Rochester hospital, and admitted in serious condition, on life support and in a coma. By Friday he was reportedly breathing on his own, off life support.

Robinson had fled the scene Wednesday night; he turned himself in to Lyons Police yesterday and was then arrested by Newark Police. He is charged with assault.
