Wear red on Feb. 1 at Newark Hospital Did you know that heart disease is the number 1 killer of American women, claiming the lives of one out of every 2.6 women? And, even though there is a greater awareness of the seriousness of heart disease as a result of educational campaigns such as the American Heart Association's 'Go Red' campaign, women are still less likely than men to survive a heart attack. The good news is that heart disease is largely preventable for both men and women. To raise awareness and to help give people the power to prevent heart disease by reducing their risk factors, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is inviting you to participate in 'Go Red' Friday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital. Wear red and go to the hospital for a mini heart fair including: cholesterol screening, blood pressure screening, information on heart disease, nutrition and diabetes and more. The event will culminate with a group photo in the lobby at 12:30 p.m. of staff and visitors wearing red. You may purchase a heart-healthy Red lunch in the hospital cafeteria from 11:30 to 1:30. The event is being sponsored by Cardiac Services and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Newark-Wayne. Copyright
