Arcadia photo contest winners are named

The Newark-Arcadia Historical Society's A Day in the Life of Newark & Arcadia Photo Contest was held on October 13.

Eleven photographers submitted 40 photographs. The judge for the contest was artist Wayne Williams, of the Wayne County Council of the Arts.

The winners are:

  • Best of Show went to Art & Marsha Williams for 'Reflections' (in the Erie Canal). The grand prize was an overnight stay at the Newark Quality Inn.
  • First runner-up was Richard Booth's 'Tracks' - in the Experimental & Creative category.
  • Second runner up was Carol Rosenthal's 'Fisk/Maslyn Farm.'

Scenic/Landscapes:

  • 1st Richard Booth (Lock 28-B), 2nd Nancy Brevet (The Journey), 3rd Mary Smith (As the Village Sleeps).
  • People/Animals/Action - 1st Art & Marsha Williams (Dog on a Fall Foliage Tour), 2nd Jacqueline Arno (Geese), 3rd Jacqueline Arno (Mallard). Historic (over 50 years old) - 1st Nancy Brevet (The Eclipse), 2nd Art & Marsha Williams (Northbound on Zurich Rd. Tracks), 3rd Carol Rosenthal (Edgett-Burnham Canal Bridge).

Experimental/Creative/B&/Misc.

  • 1st Carol Rosenthal (Whatever Happened to Neisner's?), 2nd Mary Smith (Wegmans Celebrates Its Big 50), 3rd Nancy Brevet (Nature Takes Over).

All of the photographs (8x10) will be on display at the Newark-Arcadia Museum, 120 High St., in the near future. Fee admission; hours are Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
