Author will speak at Williamson Library

Author Brooks Tenney will present his newest novel, New Silk Road (2007, Trafford), at the Williamson Free Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.

Tenney, a former engineer who has travelled across the globe, has drawn on his experiences in out-of-the-way places to craft another complex story of crime and intrigue.

His second novel is named for the ancient route used to bring precious merchandise from China to the western world, and challenges the romantic image of Central Asia. Exotic locations like Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are woven into a tapestry of suspense and danger. Diverse characters with their own personal agendas swirl through the plot until they finally converge in a disastrous vortex of violence.

The author, who has toured the region extensively, will give his perspective on Central Asia and will talk about how he wrote the book. He'll entertain questions from the audience about the publishing process in general as well as about New Silk Road, in particular.

The program is free and open to the public in the library's Community Room.
